Cerebral Palsy Foundation Partnership
Cerebral palsy is the leading cause of motor disability in children, with approximately 18 million people affected worldwide. Its prevalence is estimated at between 1 and 4 cases per 1,000 live births depending on the region. Early detection is a key challenge in enabling appropriate care and improving the motor and cognitive development of affected children.
The ENSEMBLE programme, launched in 2022 and led by the Fondation Paralysie Cérébrale, aims to improve the early detection of cerebral palsy in at-risk newborns, particularly in cases of prematurity or perinatal stroke. This five-year project brings together research teams from five European countries and relies on a combination of innovative technologies: movement analysis, electroencephalography (EEG) and artificial intelligence.
This collaborative approach aims to refine early diagnosis and predict the motor and cognitive development of affected children. L’Institut Servier’s involvement contributes to funding research activities and training initiatives conducted outside France.
