Overweight, obesity and alcohol consumption are the leading causes of liver disease in Western countries. Hepatic lesions induced by these nutritional factors are found at different frequencies and at different levels of severity in clinical practice. The intestinal microbiota is now widely considered as a potential factor in individual susceptibility to liver diseases, especially in those related to alcohol consumption.
